Terms and Conditions

Details of the nursery policies and procedures are displayed in the nursery reception.

Admissions

A registration and child detail form must be completed before your child starts at Fir Tree Day Nursery.  A £50 deposit is required to secure your child’s place; this will be refunded through your final invoice.

Settling in Policy.

We ask that you and your child attend a settling in visit of one hour together before your child starts nursery. This is so that you can get to know the staff who will be caring for your child and pass on information about the care of your child. We then suggest your child attends for a couple of short sessions on their own before they commence their regular pattern of attendance. This we feel eases you and your child into the routine of nursery. You will not be charged for settling in visits and we appreciate that each family’s needs are different; some may need a little longer to settle in than others. You are always welcome to bring at any time or as many times as you need to see how your child is getting on.

Security

We will not let your child leave the nursery with anyone that is not known to the staff. If anyone else is to collect your child you must notify the nursery and the person collecting him or her must give the child’s security number.

Absences and illness

If your child is to be absent from the nursery please ring and let the staff know. If the absence is due to illness please respect the following exclusion periods; -

Vomiting and diarrhoea   – 48 hours after the last symptom has stopped.

Conjunctivitis                  - once treatment has started.

Chicken pox                   - once all the spots have dried up.

Head lice                       - once they have been treated.

These are in accordance with the local heath authority guidelines.

We will contact you and ask you to collect your child if we feel they become to ill to attend or need to see a doctor.

Medicines

Only prescribed medicine can be given to your child whilst at nursery, however in the event of your child having a high temperature we ask your permission to administer an infant paracetamol or nurofen. (Permission is given when you sign your contract with us.If you do not wish us to administer this please delete as appropriate.)

Accidents

Your child’s safety is paramount to us at Fir Tree but occasionally accidents do happen. On these occasions the details will be recorded in our accident book and you will be told about the accident, shown the book and asked to sign it.

Discipline

It may be necessary from time to time to discipline unacceptable behaviour, however this will be done in a calm, consistent manner. Under no circumstances will a child be smacked, shaken, isolated, deprived of food or drink, humiliated, embarrassed or frightened. They will be moved away to sit in a quiet area with a book to calm down and they will be told why their behaviour was unacceptable in a manner appropriate to their level of understanding. Persistent unacceptable behaviour will be discussed with the parent.

Property

We ask that your child does not bring toys from home into nursery except if they are related to a theme and you have been asked to by a member of staff.

Your child may bring in comforters such as dummies etc.

We operate a no violence policy so request that toys such as guns; swords etc are not bought into nursery at all. Please could you ensure that all your child’s clothes are clearly marked with their name.

We would ask that all children have a pair of shoes or slippers to change into when they come into nursery.

Comments or complaints.

We welcome any comments you may have about our nursery and operate an open door policy where a member of staff will be happy to speak to you at time convenient to yourself.

If you have a complaint in the first instance speak to the manager and she will endeavour to resolve the problem. If this is not done to your satisfaction you can speak to a member of the early years development team 01743 254400 or Ofsted who can be contacted on 0845 601 4771.
